Day 3: Roman Forum

We started out Day 3 by taking the metro to Monastiraki to see the Roman Forum. It wasn't a big site, and it was nearly deserted.

When Rome conquered Greece and destroyed the Greeks' marketplace (Ancient Agora; visited later), they decided to build one of their own.

The entrance.

The ruins were pretty, umm, ruined. There were lots of odds and ends of stone lying around.

The largest intact structure was the Tower of the Winds (also known as the Bath House of the Winds). If you look closely at the top, you'll see a different carved relief for each wind direction, eight sides in all.
