Happy Birthday, Linc!

Yesterday we celebrated my nephew Linc's second birthday at the Vilas Park Zoo in Madison.

The birthday boy liked to play with his mom's camera.

Linc got a cool scooter. The boys got into a tussle over it. (Linc won.)

Nash got a present, too. It was called a Hover Disk.

The boys waited patiently while Grandma Eileen blew up the Hover Disc.

And the winner is...

...Pink!! My peony is a lovely blush pink.

And surprise! Earlier this spring I thought these plants couldn't possibly be the bellflowers that grew here last year. Amazing transformation!

I got these ferns from The Farm. I also put a few wake robins (trilliums) underneath. I should probably move those out from underneath so people can see them.

My poor rhubarb. Either it's sick or I over-harvested last year.

And my beautiful iris are in full bloom (or were when this picture was taken last week).

I'm really behind on my blogging.

Last weekend I went up to Wisconsin. On Saturday night I went to see my cousins' band Rivalry. It also happened to be my cousin DJ's 26th birthday.

Both boys are big fans of bubbles, especially Linc. Nash liked trying to make bubbles. He was more successful when he just stuck out his arm and let the wind do the work.

Farm-at-the-zoo

The Lincoln Park Zoo has a "farm" area.
It's too bad today the tractor was closed for maintenance.

Linc and Nash both enjoyed the chicken area. They even had some real baby chicks on display.

The dairy barn featured a machine-milking demonstration while we were there.

The boys got a good view up front.

In the afternoon, we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo.

(OK, so I didn't get a photo of the bears. They did have a giant black bear at the zoo, though. One of Nash's favorite toys is a black bear. He takes him to bed at night.)
