Sun Fun

If there's one thing in abundance at Badlands National Park, it's SUN. The rangers have recognized this bounty and have put it to great advantage. They offer a "Sun Fun" program outside the Visitor Center.

They set up a solar telescope. It allowed you to see the sun like a giant red circle with wisps of energy licking out from its edges.

This was my favorite device. They position the glass to capture the sun's profile...

...and it focuses the image such that you can see the spots on the sun's surface.
