Thanksgiving #2 - Supper in Fort Atkinson

The gang's all here! There are so many people in this room I can't get them all in one shot.

Peggy did a nice job refinishing this table. It suited our banquet style dinner perfectly.

Here's a sweep of the room:

The adoring newlyweds, Laurel and Jed.

My mother and Peg at the kids' table.

Danny and Jeff catching up on man talk.

Cousins DJ and Troy, grazing on the munchies.

Bambi was delicious, by the way.

Andrew and Steph, just chillin'.

Ron and Terry try to keep their eyes open as they finish off dessert.

Owen got passed around more than the dinner rolls.

Everyone together now: Awwww!

Aunt Deb has that "mom sway".

Attention gals, he's single.

And he does dishes!

I finally get my turn.

Back to Laurel.

Back to Troy.

Grandpa Scullin

Thanksgiving #1 - Brunch in Edgerton

I spent Thanksgiving morning with my mother, brother, his wife and their two kids. Sadly, my dad had to work this Thanksgiving.
Sarah - Thank you for hosting!

Cart or truck? This one is both.

Ma and Sarah (and Linc) watching the Lions get annihilated.

Linc can be quite a chunk. Brad, on the other hand, is getting quite slim.

Give brother a kiss.

A rare moment when we got Nash and Linc to sit together.

Linc is such a happy baby.

Nash helps with chores. He throws his dirty clothes in the hamper.

Father and son in matching outfits.

Two boys at once! Ooo, soft scarf.

What A Great Weekend!

Lots of great food, great family and great memories!

The Drive

Waiting for the gang to gather, I took this opportunity to admire the impressive buck Danny got yesterday.

Troy and Alex prep for the ride up to the west woods.

All set.

With the safeties ON of course.

Our drive consists of three hunters and four drivers (including me).
(Is that a smile from Norm?)

Let's scare up some deer!

Troy was stationed at the end in a "stand".

Not more than thirty seconds after we started the drive, Troy shot this respectable spike.

One of the less pleasant details of deer hunting is the "field dressing". Basically you cut the deer from breast bone to tail and rip out everything inside the rib cage. When you dump it out, you get a pile of organs like this. The smell is lovely, too.

Success on Saturday

I joined my cousin Troy out in the woods in the afternoon. He was up in the tree stand, and I was in the blind on the ground.

Troy shot Bambi. He felt really guilty that she was so small. I was just proud that I spotted her and Troy shot her. Great shooting Troy! According to Uncle Danny the woods are overpopulated as it is, so any size deer is fair game.

What a team!

Night time for the girls (guns).

Time to sit around the table and swap stories. Boy did we have a lot to talk about!

Life at the Farm

The Farm

Luxury amenities include cloth seat cover and toilet paper.

Uncles Terry and Danny back from the morning hunt.

Chilly yet cheery Beth, Debbie and Alex

Laurel joined us for breakfast quiche.

Deer hunting 2008

Brr!! It's almost as cold inside!

Bruce made a very nice stone marker for Grandpa's resting place.

Grandpa has a nice spot at the edge of the field.
